Artist's Comments

This was the last thing I made in my throwing class. I tried to make a really cool twisted handle for it but the clay isn't plastic enough to want to stretch that much. After the fourth attempt I settled for lugs. It was either that or smash it into little pieces. I think a made a good choice.

Cone 10
Salt Fired
Shaner's Red Gold and St Johns Black on the screws.
Lugs are raw clay just covered with the salt glaze.

I gave this to my mom for Mothers Day

You know? I get so lucky with glazing its not even funny. The only homework or any attempt to be scientific about it hat I do is show up for kiln openings and help unload. I see what others have used or ask what they put on and then use it in a combination that they haven't put together yet. But most of the time its a crap shoot and I get real lucky.

Thank you!

This is great! You are doing really well with your throwing, and I agree the glaze looks beautiful.
